چکیده

There is evidence that a high hospital volume of pancreaticoduodenectomy improves short- and long-term outcomes, but there are few population-based studies on the effect resection rate in population. The aim this national, observational study was primarily to investigate differences overall survival among elderly patients with cancer pancreatic head between low groups secondarily determine if counties rates had more severe complications after surgery. Surgical resection improves survival in pancreatic cancer patients without vascular invasion- a population based study

AIM To investigate the effect of surgery on overall survival (measured from the time of diagnosis) in pancreatic cancer without vascular invasion (stage 1, 2A and 2B). We also sought to investigate factors that predict survival in patients who elected to undergo surgery and factors that affect the decision to undergo surgery. METHODS The Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) databa...

Surgical resection of a primary tumor improves survival of metastatic pancreatic cancer: a population-based study

INTRODUCTION Pancreatic cancer is a lethal disease with a very poor prognosis. This study investigates survival of patients diagnosed with metastatic pancreatic cancer (mPC) based on local treatment of the primary tumor. METHODS Patients diagnosed with stage IV mPC between 2004 and 2013 were identified from the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database. Cancer-specific surviv...

High risk of venous thrombosis in patients with pancreatic cancer: a cohort study of 202 patients.

To estimate the risk of venous thrombosis associated with pancreatic malignancies we followed a cohort of patients with pancreatic cancer (n = 202). We calculated incidence rates of venous thrombosis and compared this with population rates using a Standardised Morbidity Ratio (SMR). The effects of location, histology and treatment were assessed by Cox-modelling. The incidence of venous thrombos...
